Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
